One man arrested after barricading himself in Richmond apartment

RCMP said a man has been arrested after allegedly barricading himself in a home in Richmond.

The incident shut down 7600-block Moffatt Street for a few hours on Friday afternoon.

Earlier, police warned the public to avoid the area due to an ongoing police incident. It said there was no danger to the public.

Witnesses reported a heavy police presence on Moffatt Street, with the road blocked off between Granville Avenue and Blundell Road.

Police say the man had barricaded himself into an apartment. He was taken into custody without incident, and the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team has cleared the area.
